Mangaparae Pāpapakāinga Trust – Ko Tō Tātou Manapori: Māori Electoral Option Engagement

Mangaparae Pāpapakāinga Trust, in collaboration with the Electoral Commission, has been out in the community to create kōrero and connection with our whānau in Mangatū about the Māori Electoral Option. We have been privileged to spend time with our whānau, listening to their whakaaro, sharing information, and creating spaces where people can ask questions and better understand their choices. Ko Tātou Manapori: It's Our Democracy is led by Mangapārae Papakāinga Trust to strengthen democratic participation among our rural whānau. The project responds to the unique challenges faced by our communities in accessing electoral information by delivering trusted, culturally grounded, and politically neutral engagement that supports informed decision-making about enrolment and the Māori Electoral Option.

Mangamaia Station – GT Shearing Crew

Moeawa popped in to spend time with the crew from GT Shearing at Mangamaia Station. We are grateful to the team, Trish and Gerald, for making space for kōrero during a busy working day.

It was a privilege to connect with whānau in their workplace and share information about the Māori Electoral Option.

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whatatūtū

We were lucky to share a cup of tea and kōrero with our kaiako at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whatatūtū. It was a great opportunity to hear their whakaaro and discuss the importance of the Māori Electoral Option with our kaiako and kura whānau.

Mangatū Marae Monthly Hui

Our whānau at the Mangatū Marae monthly hui shared their whakaaro and kōrero with us about the Māori Electoral Option.
